They'll never know you were there
Job search from anywhere
Most computer users know that your browser has the capability to store information about your favorite pages and web sites.
Your browser has the potential to provide much more than we ask. One of these advanced tasks your browser is capable of, the use of bookmarklets, is particularly well suited to job searching.
Introducing the JSL Bookmarklet
In the simplest of terms, a bookmarklet is a script that runs when you click on the link for the script which will perform a function. The JSL Bookmarklet (click to view a more detail description of this script) is designed to capture the URL, title, and any text you have selected on the page you are viewing when you click the bookmarklet.
When you click the favorite, all you should see is a refresh of the browser page you were viewing.
Behind the Scenes
This information will be saved as an
Ad in Job Search Log under your profile. From there, it is easy to save the Ad as a job so you can apply through JSL. Also, the ad will be sent to the contact email address you provided with a link to the ad you created in Job Search Log.
Let's get started
You will need to be a registered user of Job Search Log in order to fully utilize the JSL Bookmarklet. Please login or
register as a user of Job Search Log or provide your user name in the form below. You can also specify an additional email address to send the Ad confirmations to.
Right click on this link
JSL Bookmarker and select to Save as a favorite or Add a bookmark (firefox). You will receive a warning about adding a script as a favorite which you should not disregard. Take a second to read about what bookmarklets are, read the step by step description of what this bookmarklet does, and ask your favorite techie for advice. After you are reassured that nothing nefarious is intended, save the bookmarklet. Get started finding your perfect job.
